Hi Experts,
I am planning to upgrade my SCM 5.1 (2007) dual stack system to SCM7.0 EHP3.
Please provide the possible procedures to upgrade.
Can i directly upgrade the scm5.1 dual stack to scm7.0 ehp3 dual stack (is it supported?) by calculating stack.xml file?
Or do i need to split the stack before upgrading to target release.I read SAP has discontinued supporting dual stack.
So please let me know what are the options to upgrade SCM5.1 to SCM7.0 EHP3 NW 7.40
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
Krishna
Hi Krisha
Yes, before upgrade you have to split the stack and then perform the upgrade to latest version
Kindly go thru the SAP Notes 1737723 - EHP3 for SAP SCM 7.0 SP Stacks - Release & Information Note
1891973 - Prerequisites for upgrade to SCM 7.03 (SCM 7.0 EhP3)

Hi Krishna
Is it compulsory to split the stack to upgrade to latest release?
Yes, From NW 7.4(SCM 7.0 EHP 3) onwards dual stack not supported by SAP,
I thing your upgrade may be you split in to two phases
1. First you have to upgrade the system from 5.1 to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 or EHP1
2. Do the dual stack split as mention in the SAP Notes
1797362 - Dual-Stack Split for Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver
1655335 - Use Cases for Splitting Dual-Stack Systems
Is dual stack upgrade is supported by SAP or not ?
Yes, Old version of SAP dual stack are supported
If i calculate stack xml file in MOPZ for dual stack, can i proceed with the upgrade?
Yes, i thing it will support till EHP2 after that both are different stack(ABAP & JAVA).
If possible perform the upgrade in the test or sandbox system to check the upgrade

Sriram
Hi Sriram,
Thanks for your valuable time and information. I will go with the stack split before upgrading.
In dual stack split, if i want to remove JAVA instance, can i proceed with below two features or any other features are required.
- Remove Java stack from dual stack central instance
-Remove SCS instance from dual stack system
Thanks,
Krishna
