Dear All,

We have an SAP system installed on a host (windows - Oracle) with SID ABC.

Now we are planning to install one more SAP system on same host with SID XYZ.

Please help me with steps to install Oracle home for this new SAP system XYZ.

Thanks & Regards,

Nisha Nemade

Hi Sriram,

Yes, I am aware that I have to stop existing instance and then perform the setup and SWPM.

Thank you

Hi.

Just install in another location (withs admin user) and be careful with Listener names and ports. Its good to create a listernet for each instance (and a service for each one), eg. listener named ABC and another named XYZ.

Hi Mauricio,

Thanks for reply.

When I will run the Oracle installer it will prompt me for drive and other parameters so I should provide new value for listener port and it will create a seperate listnener e.g 1530 for XYZ.

Hope this is correct.

Nisha

Hi,

When install in Windows, Oracle installer don´t prompt you for listener setup. SWPM (sapinst) prompts instead. Then set another name and port and uncheck the flag "keep listener.ora" and "keep tnsnames.ora".

If something is wrong just ensure that Listener.ora and Tnsnames.ora looks like this:

listener.ora (one per instance and oracle_home). Change EPP for you own SID.

EPP =

(ADDRESS_LIST =

(ADDRESS =

(PROTOCOL = IPC)

(KEY = EPP.WORLD)

)

(ADDRESS=

(PROTOCOL = IPC)

(KEY = EPP)

)

(ADDRESS =

(COMMUNITY = SAP.WORLD)

(PROTOCOL = TCP)

(HOST = 172.28.230.25)

(PORT = 1547)

)

  )

SID_LIST_EPP =

(SID_LIST =

(SID_DESC =

(SID_NAME = EPP)

(ORACLE_HOME = E:\oracle\EPP\102)

)

  )

TNSNAMES.ORA

EPP.WORLD=

(DESCRIPTION =

(ADDRESS_LIST =

(ADDRESS =

(COMMUNITY = SAP.WORLD)

(PROTOCOL = TCP)

(HOST = 172.28.230.25)

(PORT = 1547)

)

)

(CONNECT_DATA =

(SID = EPP)

(GLOBAL_NAME = EPP)

)

  )

You just need to start the installer and provide a new location or drive for the Oracle software installation. Check the Oracle installation/upgrade guide for the steps to start the installer.

Hi Reagan,

Thanks for reply.

I have checked the guide "Setup Multiple Oracle Homes" and have a doubt about environment variables.

The guide mentiones to Remove all parts referring to <Oracle_Home>\bin from the system environment variable PATH in point 1 whereas in for Windows 2003 it mentiones to append PATH variable.

Can you please suggest me what I have to do here ? Or these steps are not required ?

Regards,

Nisha

Hello Nisha

https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700000608442010E/win_ora_upgrade.pdf

I believe you are referring to the 4.5 Changing the Environment for User <sapsid>adm section of the guide. You should follow the section 4.1 Installing the Oracle Database Software of the guide.
