Support Package and Addon

Hi Experts,

I have one query, we all know we cannot deimplement the SAP Addon and support package(SPAM & Saint). Only way is to restore from previous backup. Now my question is, what need to restore to get previous level? Is it database only or some files. Please let me know.

Thanks

Asad

Dear Asad,

You need last successful full backup. If you remember from guide: full backup recommended before and after update/upgrade.

Hi Alexander,

Full backup means the database full backup ? Or all the files/folders backup? And why need backup after upgradation ?

Dear Asad,

Of course you should make full backup database and files fiolder but full database enough for restore system. Everything depends on your SLA.

Backup need to commit system condition.

With best regards,

Alexander

PS. Ifi you update system kernel you must backup filesystems too.

Hi Alexandar,

To take full backup is better, My question is after applying SP/Add-on, if we do not want to use it, how to go previous state? Only DB restore ?

Thanks

Dear Asad,

Are you updated only components or and kernel too? If kernel not updated you can restore DB from backup only.

But if you have not problem with kernel yoy can restore only DB from backup.

Thanks Alexandar,

Now I understand. Thanks for the update.

For kernel: restore the kernel files from /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/exe only.

For SP: restore the database only.

For Addon: restore the database only.

Is my Idea clear ?

Dear Asad,

I think you should use /sapmnt/<SID>/exe/
