Hi All

Quick check, I am going to upgrade the SP .

My client suggest that do a clone of existing system , without disturbing the existing system then  do the upgrade on the on clone system and once done restore the database from existing system .

Is this possible ? Thanks

Regards

Clement

Hi Clement,

If you do SP update in clone system and restore database from clone to live server, then you will get the backdated database. Better to do in development system at first, then transport into QAS and then Production server. But to do this, take database backup for in case.

Thanks

Hi Asad

This is a development server , correction  the database restore is from existing system (dev) to clone system (dev) once the SP is updated in the clone system.

Is this possible ?

No, cause if you restore another database after upgrade the SP, then it will be like previous system again.

Thanks

Hi Clement,

We will put this in another way.

If you don't want to disturb the current landscape. Take a copy of DEV system and build a sandbox system. Do the SP update and perform the testing in Sandbox system.

If everything goes fine then proceed with the actual landscape. This is the generic approach to be followed in SAP Upgrade or SP update.

You can SP update directly on the DEV system. If something goes wrong you can restore the database backup taken before the SP update. Not sure why you want to clone the DEV system and then do the SP update there. Could you tell what is the reason behind this approach ?
