Trying to Install Diagnostics Agent, SWPM Won't Start

I downloaded the latest SWPM (SWPM10SP05_4-20009707.SAR) and extracted the files using the latest SAPCAR.EXE.  When I try to run sapinst.exe, SWPM doesn't start.  I've attached the log.  I'm running this on Windows 2003 R2 x64.

Looking at the logs, does "Bad version number in .class file" means I need to install the latest (or some other version) JRE for this to work?  I have the following Java installed:

• J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 8
• Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

I found the problem.  There's this environment variable set on Windows,

Name: SAPINST_JRE_HOME

Value: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.5.0_08

This must have been set when we ran sapinst from years ago.  After deleting this system variable, the GUI comes up.
