BPMon: Send BPMon alerts to third party tool through SNMP traps

Hi All,

In our environment the preferred ticketing tool for raising tickets is a CA tool. I have managed to integrate system monitoring on Solution Manager with this third party tool using SNMP traps. Essentially when a system monitoring alert is raised in the alert inbox of solution manager, ticket gets raised in the CA tool.

I want the same integration with BPMon alerts. Whenever a BPMon alert is raised, I want to send an SNMP trap to the CA ticketing tool.

Can someone please guide me to the correct configuration guide or how its done.

Regards,

Ash

If it is classic BPMon, I think only possibility is using BPMon motivation BADI.

https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700000525622010E/Auto-reaction_Messages.pdf

The guide is described for classic BPMon.

If you are more than SP10, and your solution run on MAI, I guess SNMP trap on MAI infra might be reusable( I never try but I assume new MAI based BPMon reuse some part of AppOps infra in SolMan, so I assume introduced SNMP trap for Techmon might help. But this is my guess)

Hi Keji,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am on SP 10. Can you please explain what do you mean by " I guess SNMP trap on MAI infra might be reusable( I never try but I assume new MAI based BPMon reuse some part of AppOps infra in SolMan, so I assume introduced SNMP trap for Techmon might help. But this is my guess)"

The other thing I want to try is, CCMS auto reactions. For all BPMon monitors a node is created in RZ20. Can a SNMP auto reaction be configured for that node? Will this work? Yours views on the solution.

Dear Ashutosh,

There is no direct integration between BPM and non-sap ticketing tools.

Please check the below wiki link for other possibilities.

Hi Ash

As you may know, BPMon can run 2 different technical infra as of SolMan SP10.

(In the future, new BPMon will remail.  As of SP12, there is migration tool from classic to new)

Classic BPMon run CCMS + BPMon data collection code.

But new BPMon run MAI (Monitoring Alert Infrastructure).

In this thread, there is some dicsussion on MAI relevant SNMP trap. But off course, if your solution run on Classic BPMon it is not related.

But now, there is BPMon on MAI so from this context, I mentioned previous comment.

If you do not know what I am talking about (new / classic), better to check recently released BPMon setup guide on MAI.

Hi Keji,

Thanks a lot.

You mentioned that BPmon can run on 2 different technical infra as of SolMan SP10. Do you know how to activate MAI for BPmon on SP 10.

I went through the documentation. If my understanding is correct  you will need SP 12 to activate MAI for BPMon.

But as usual  Keji a very useful answer by you. Thank you very much.

Thank you Rahul for you effort to help me.

Hi Ash

Your are correct. New BPMon availability of SP10 is limited. Not all objects are covered by MAI BPMon at Sp10. And remaining part becomes available as of SP12.

For through put & backlog key figure, I think it is still available in even in SP10. But there are prerequisite as  descried in the document

You can use MAI based BPMon by specifing MAI flag at BPMon setup.

Here is a screen where you can to control behavior (MAI/Classic).

As Keiji has said, the functionality that you are looking for is part of teh MAI infrastructure that is available is SP12

Hi Ash,

The r3maiTrap is the only one used for

transmitting traps from Solman System Monitoring and BPMon.

Please check the following link on how to setup the SNMP traps:

http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/TechOps/Alert+Consumer+BAdI+Interface?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sa...

There is a also a note for fixes depending on your SOLMAN SP level:

1965064 - SolMan 7.10 SP10 - MAI OS/SNMP Adapters - Fixes and Features

2009733 - SolMan 7.10 SP11 - MAI OS/SNMP Adapters - Fixes and Features

Kind regards,

Hi Roaland,

Thanks for your reply. I have done my config according to the guide you have mentioned. But what I want to ask is after you have done your SNMP config, like in case of System Monitoring you go to the SOLMAN_SETUP and activate the third part component to send SNMP traps when an alert is raised. What configuration is required at the BPMon config level to send SNMP traps when a BPmon alert is raised.

Ash
