Save Spool File to Local PC

Former Member

Hi there,

We have run our P60 program which has created a spool file which can be seen

in SP01 as a PDF file.

When I go into the menu SPOOL REQUEST => Forward => the save as local file is greyed out :

I need to download this file to my local PC.

Does anybody know how to do this.

Thanks

Andy

Hello,

It is a very simple process.

Go to SP01, and select the spool number which you want to save as PDF.

Follow the below path:

Goto-->Display Requests-->Content

this will show the content which is to be printed using this spool number.

Then type PDF! ( exclamation mark) which will give a pop up like screen to you. This is actually a PDF preview.

Navigate your mouse toward the below part of the screen and a save button will come. You can now save the file.

Hrishav

Many thanks guys for all your suggestions.

I have tried each one but still no joy.

I am going to have to raise an OSS. We need these P60's printed

by next week.

Thanks

I managed to find a solution:

You can copy a bit of open source code from www.pdfsam.org/

Run your program/P60 as normal in SAP which will create more than one spool

file in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global

You can then run the open source command to merge the PDF's spool files together to

create just the one file.

You can then copy this file to your local PC and then print it off

That actually sounds like the SAP-supported solution from Note 1855522 (Creating a PDF spool request with one part (not several)).  You might check that out and see if it also does the job.

The other Note you should investigate is 1717357 (Download of spool requests from SP01).  This specifically adds download functionality for ADS (PDF) spool requests, which was not available before.

Click on the PDF icon under "Type" which will take you to the next screen.

Now select "Spool Request" - Forward - Save To Local File

Andy,

P60 is a payroll program, right?  I've noticed that the PDF output from payroll processing can sometimes be set this way, to not allow saving as a local file, etc, regardless of your authorizations.  It also may be related to the multi-part nature of the spool file.  Have a look at Note 2001535 - In Report RPCP60G0, How to download single PDF for multiple employees.  It's not exactly your situation, but it might provide some extra hints on how to proceed.

Can be a Authorization problem. (is SU53 all OK ?)

Please check if you have Full authorization for authorization object S_GUI.

Ok.. this option get activated only when you display the spool and then save to loacl file.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/d9/4a8f2251ea11d189570000e829fbbd/content.htm

Exporting a spool request

  • Select an entry and display the contents. For SAPscript texts, choose Spool request ® Forward ® Save to local file Then save the file in one of the possible formats. This procedure only saves the display portion of the document, however.
