How can someone make use of source and destination data in xcelsius 2008
Hi RP,
Not really getting your question.
Source: In context to dashboard, source which means the data you get it from your report or DB, where you will processing or designing you whole dashboard.
Destination : Whenever you want to make some drill down or make use of the data for any other data processing based on the data like row, column, position, status, value then you can use the insertions types to do that.
Using the samples in the file menu of the dashboard you can get better idea on this.
Hope this Helps, revert for any assistance.

Hi Suman,
Thanks for ur reply. I am able to understand what you have tried to make me understand about the Destination. 'Source', I was trying to ask that when in Xcelsius there there is a red colour arrow symbol to choose the source from the excel file below the canvas. After using the samples from the file menu I am still having some doubt, that when we try to choose the source data and link it to the cell, it accepts but when we try to select the destination why we select only the colored portion which is just below one cell of the excel file.
The components you are talking of , I think almost all the 'Selectors' components have the 'Source' and 'Destination'. And the same with all the 'Charts' components with different name like 'By Series--> Value(Y) is the 'Source'.

Hi RP,
Before jumping into the clarification, i hope you are in the middle of dashboard knowledge where are these queries arises, quite normal don't worry about. But still you need to understand the logic, mapping the data, coloring more. The link provide by arjit is more enough to get some knowledge about the dashboards.
When it comes to coloring, why we select only the colored portion which is just below one cell of the excel file.
Its all depends here in samples, SAP has trying to prove where the destination has been provided. if you are using many component and using source destination logic to drill down, in common brain can't understand where i have mapped the destination and till how many cells, where this coloring helps. Its not like always you have to map only the bottom part where you are comforatble you can map it down.
Hope this helps!!!

hello suman,
u r absolutely right iam in the middle of dashboard knowledge. u too right that i need now to focus more on understanding logic, mapping the data and coloring more. I would also be thankful and grateful to you if u could please help me know more about how to use the 'Object Browser', i mean i know that object browser is used to hide and lock the components, but still when there are a lot of components, i get confused, as I found it with the IT Management Scorecard the .xlf file which is available in Sample xclesius link (Xcelsius Sample Dashboards).
Thanks Arjit the the above link.

Hi RP,
Good try to learn more. You are correct object browser is used to lock & hide components, apart from that you can move the object front & back based on the sequence to flow. Even me too had the same confusion, you need to rename the component rather than leaving them aside in development, so that you can understanding which component is placed where and sequence.
Hope this helps!!!
