Backup and Log reduction scheduling in background

Hi Experts,

We need to schedule backup in weakly and monthly automatically. this is to  replace new backup in weakly and monthly.

Weakly is deferential backup and monthly is full backup. and also we need log reduction automatically when it will reach more than 1GB.

please help me for this.

Hi Jana,

Regarding your question about automatically shrinking the log file:

A transaction log backup frees space in the transaction log file. If the transaction log size and the frequency of the transaction log backups fits your system's load profile it's not necessary to shrink the transaction log file on a regular basis.

How often are you taking a transaction log backup?

You can also use SQL management studio to schedule backups regularly.

You just have to select a data/time and select the available actions.

About the log shrink, we don't recommend to run shrinks.

But i have doubt where will be save my data base backup and it will done automatically as per my date.

Hello,

Check the logs and you can find where the backup are saved.

You can also setup a "backup device" to a particular location.
