Change Material Type..

Hi,

I have created one material in Material Type SemiFinish. I want to change it to Finish. How to Change it ?

Yusuf,

You are lookin for transaction MMAM to change the material type. Or in the material master choose material>>>change material type. But before you can do that, you have to fulfill some prerequisites. You can view them on

When I am changing Material Type it is giving Error as follows :

The material type cannot be changed.

The reasons for this are:

The material is already used in BOM items whose item category defines

quantity-based inventory management. However, quantity-based

inventory management is not defined by the new material type.

What is the reason ?

Hi Yusuf,

Master Data:

If you would have created the Material Master using - Material Type as Semifinished ( HALB), This can be changed Using MMAM, Please Ensure that there should be no Open Purchase Order,Open Sales Order and Please should be Revaluated.

Customizing:

If you have created a New Material Type.if you want change the description of Material Type go to T.Code : OMS2 and change the description of your material type if it is Customized.
