Business Connector - Unicode Problems

Hi,

We have a Business Connector 4.7 installation with last patch

(BC47_SR8). We make RFC calls to our SAP systems (function

BAPI_REQUISITION_RELEASE_GEN) to release purchase requisitions.

We have used this process in a productive non-unicode system without

problem. We are trying to make the same with a 4.7 unicode system. When

we make the RFC call from BC to SAP the function is executed correctly

but we don't get any information back from SAP. I guess that BC is not

able to understand the codepage (UTF-16??) of the information that SAP

gives back.

There are some notes regarding UNICODE and codepage problems with BC

but they should be solved by our BC patch release.

Anyone knows how to solve this problem??

Based on the time frame I am assuming this was solved. But I also had a similar issue that I solved. Here is what I did...

1) In the BC Server edit the listener. There should be a radio button with the option Unicode listener Yes/No. (Note: radio button does not exist in BC server version 4.8. BC server 4.8 auto detects this, no settings required.

2) SM59 in the SAP system. Open the connection. Go to MDMP & Unicode tab. Select the Unicode button.

- You should be able to execute the Unicode test from the "Unicode Test" Button.

Hi,

set UTF-8 in the BC Developer in a new mapping.

That worked in our case.
