OS/ST06/OS07n - Page IN/OUT of Ram

Hi experts,

in ST06/OS07n there are the fields "Page In of RAM" and "Page Out of Ram".

Is this value really that critical? Especially the value "%/h".

Because in Technical Monitoring the alert will be started by 1%.

And we are having some systems which are going to over 10%.

Is this the amount of Ram which is written to paging-file?

So if I have 10gb RAM and 10%/h, does it mean that in 1 hour 1gb RAM was written to paging-file?

Kind regards

Hello

Having too much paging can obviously have a negative impact on performance and be an indicator of a system that is running out of RAM.

I do not think that "% of page In/out of RAM" is a good indicator, as it's impact depends on memory size. Paging rate (Pages out/s or Pages in/s) is more commonly used...

The paging strategy / impact is different depending on the OS your are using.

Windows: Testing Page Fault Rates (SAP Library - SAP Memory Management (BC-CST-MM))

Checking Page Fault Rates (UNIX) (SAP Library - SAP Memory Management (BC-CST-MM))

Hello Yves,

thank you for this answer.

So you mean the both fields which are also available in ST06?

Page In/OUT per "KB/s".

Kind regards

It is more representative of the swap activity
