Moving average price for material is negative: M8 783 while credit memo/MR8M

Hi,

We receive an error message :M8 783- "Moving average price for material is negative". This is while we do a credit memo or MR8M.

This is the screens shot of MB51:

Below is the PO history for the material in question:

:

While cancelling the IR above, the error message apperas as "Moving average price for material in plant is negative".

Not really clear how this situation should be handled.

The MAP of this material has not changed.. Its 500$.

Read the oss notes as well, but would like to get some response from the forum to proceed.

Regards,

Shilpa

MB51 screen shots are not really helpful as you do not see any posting for invoice receipts and price adjustments. To analyse this case a screenshot of MR51 would be more helpful.

Alternative transaction S_P00_07000139 will give you the development of MAP

Further we would need to current stock level to be able to calculate the value of the stock.

Hi Jurgen,

MR51 for Material-Co.code- Valuation area shows "No accounting documents found".
Below is the screen shot of S_P00_07000139:

Current stock level is 8 BG and total stock value is $4000.

Hope this helps you give me more abswers.

that MR51 doesn't give you anything is probably caused by missing authority.

and this list should already explain your issue. you have just stock for 4000 $ and want post a credit for 12000 $

4000 - 12000 = -8000

-8000/8 = - 1000

Yes, Jurgen.

What can be the solution for this?

Thanks,

you have to make the value of the stock bigger than your credit posting.

this is usually done by changing the moving average through MR21 transaction.

Hi Jurgen,

Do you mean to say- I need to increase the total stock value from $4000 to $12000, by revaluating the material using MR21.Following this, I can then proceed with reversing the Invoice/posting credit memo, so there is sufficient value to be covered. Once, I do this, I should again change the price to a realistic price using MR21.

This is as I understand from the other threads and your comment.

Comments appreciated.

Shilpa
