Hi Experts,
Could you please explain the diff b/w Alert Categories and Alert Configuration(rules) in XI/PI?
Your ans will be very helpful for me.
Best Regards,
Madhu.
Hi,
Alert category:
How your generated alert mail should look like. what is the information you want to keep in the mail.
What is the subject name?
What you want to put in the body?
Here you can mention interface name, message id,etc for more check available container variable
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/d0/d4b54020c6792ae10000000a155106/content.htm
when alert is generated who should receive the message?
above all will be done in the alert category.
Alert rules:
here you decide when the alert should be raised and for which interface you want alerts.
you can also configure rules for adapter engine/integration engine message errors.

Muni.

Hi Madhu,
Alert category: it's the minimum part of the alert configuration in which you specify the alert text, expiry time, escalation, etc. You can see it like an atomic part.
Alert rules: It's composed by alert categories and it has components more generic like conditions, error restrictions, etc.
