Hi Puneet

External Payment collectors are various agencies like Post office, bank where the customer can pay. These external payment collectors collect payment on behalf of the utility company and send the data for entire day(in form of a flat file) to the utility company. The utility company receives the file, validates and posts the payment using payment lot transfer program in SAP. This usually happens in batch processing after business hours.

Using External cash desk functionality SAP allows to integrate external payment tools like payment kiosks with the payment processing in SAP. This means the payment collected by kiosks is directly posted to customer account in real-time or near real-time. External cash desk comprises of certain ES bundles which can be used by external payment tools for payment processing.

Hope this clarifies.
