SAPConsole Administrator error

Former Member

Hi all,

I am getting an error on a fresh installation of SAP Front End on Windows XP/SP2. After I install and restart (with R3, General, BW and SEM modules and patches), the SAPConsole Administrator in the Control panel does not work.

When I try to launch sapcnsl.exe manually I get this error at a command window:

sapcnsl.dll: Exception handling NOT switched on in registry

Does anyone know what might be causing this, or how to correct it?

Sincerely,

Owen

Hi,

Run regedit from cmd line

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINR->software->sap-->oftek->sapconsole->profiles->untitled--->

Here check for two entries sapconcole and one sap console display

the value for the entry sapconsole should be sapcnsl.dll and

value for sap console display should be consoledisplay.dll.

Pl check if they are like this or not of not rectify them and try.

Yes they are, except that it's consoledisplayer.dll.

Hi,

thanks again, but I cannot seem find that. Do you need some sort of special access to sap notes 1014789 ?

thanks,

Owen

Hi,

Yes u need access to service.sap.com for this.

The link will be service.sap.com/notes.

Ask your team members if they know the username and password for access to service.sap.com.

The said note says the following:

SAPConsole administrator does not work as expected. The application does not start. Therefore administration of SAP (Web) Console is not possible.

Other terms

Profile.cpl, Console Administrator, Control panel, administration, configuration, start, patchlevel 23, not working.

Reason and Prerequisites

With SAP GUI for Windows Patchlevel 23 you cannot start the "SAPConsole Administrator" application from the Windows Control Panel.

Solution

The issue is solved with patchlevel 24 (and higher) of SAP GUI for Windows 6.40.

As an interim solution you could carry out all the tasks that had to be done through the profile.cpl directly in the registry.

Below are the steps to do the same:

Start -> run -> type 'regedit' and hit enter.

This will open the registry editor .

From the Left pane in Registry Editor select MyComputer->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\Ofek\SapConsole\Profiles

You will see the set of systems you where using earlier. You can changeany of the values here itself.

To change the default system for example, you select the folder Profiles, to see a KeyValue named Defaultprofile on the right pane. Double clicking this will bring up a dialog popup where you can set the Valuedata to the SystemID.

In this manner you can do the settings in the registry directly for any of your requirement like changing the back ground color, trace level,Text size etc.

Another solution is to download the attached archive "Profile.cpl" and perform the following steps on your SAP (Web) Console server:

Make a backup of the file c:\Windows\System32\profile.cpl.

Copy the file from the archive to c:\Windows\System32\ replacing the original version of profile.cpl.

Is it resolved?

Not yet, I have not had time to look into getting premium content, as we're resolving other issues.

Hello

Im running SAPconsole 6.40 with pacth 25 and Im getting the same problem described before:

Exception handling NOT switched on in registry.

I note that if I just install the SAPconsole without any pacth the problem does not happend, but if I install the patch in this case the 25 im get this error.

So what can be done to void this?

Thank you.

PD. I don´t think that this is not a profile.cpl related problem.

Alejandro, you have to a SAP logon to get the files needed to resolve this, but it is under 1014789 sapnote, at least that resolved it for me.
