Hi Experts,
I have seen the bad block error entry in event viewer on Server.
Server configuration as follows...
Windows server 2008 R2.
ECC 6.0
IBM DB2 9.7
Its a development system.
We have faced same issue on same server 4 months ago, that time I have recovered that bad sector via CHKDSK /f /r command and then after that recover the database, so after that there is no any error entry in event viewer about bad block and etc.
But today again same error occurs, please suggest me how should I proceed now?
Regards,
Sahani.

Hi Amit,
Do you have Disk RAID configuration done ? If yes , replace the faulty disk with new one.
RAID configuration will take care of synchronization of data across disks
Hope this helps.

Hi Deepanshu,
Sure I will try to run the chkdsk and the process which I have performed 4 months before.
But I am thinking about what if same error occurs again after few days.
So What precautions should I take, because we have not configured the RAID, We have recent backups, but what if disk fail in future.
Please guide me.
Regards.
Sahani.
Hi Amit,
There are different solution for your query.
1. RUN checkdsk and see if it resolves the issue continue with current server.
2. Take a backup and and perform restore on another server.
3. Try changing the disk if you can with help of server team.
4. Try to perform migration to a new server and see.
I'm assuming you should / would be taking backup everyday / week which should give a hope to restore in case of failure.
Perform the restore process a dry run kind of thing.
Hope it gives you some options.

Deepanshu Sharma
Dear Deepanshu,
Thanks for your suggestions.
1. Sure.
2. Can we restore the database on another server which have different SAP SID and DB SID ?
3. Suppose I have to replace the old hard disk with new one, so what steps i have to do?
I mean firstly I have to install the EHP5 ECC 6.0 same as my previous server versions i.e. patch level, sap SID, Database version and patches, DB SID, and after that restore the database with the help of backup file of previous server. is it so?
Yes we are taking backup on weekly basis for Development server.
Regards.
Sahani.
