Transferring own stock to customer owned stock

Hi

The business requirement is to be able to pick, pack and invoice an order for the customer and then place it in to customer owned inventory (consigned / 3PL)

However we would not like to have to book the customer stock back in again through an inbound delivery order as this will take up a lot of time.

What we would like to do is to pick, pack and invoice the customer order and then transfer it directly in to customer owned inventory in one process.

And as part of this transfer we will require the originating equipment details such as original purchase order and more imortantly the serial numbers that were captured on the original customer order to be moved across to the customer inventory, Possibly (?) retaining the original handling units ??

We have inbound handling units turned on and are running on SAP WM.

Can anyone help?

Many Thanks

Hi,

Could you specify the Industry this is related to?

You could evaluate the SD Consignment Fill-Up scenario followed by consignment issue.

The applicability will though depend upon whether placement into customer stock is only for a goods issue at a later point in time or is there a further value addition(even if in terms of warehousing processes) done after transferring to customer stock.

Thanks,

Hi Sudhir

Thank you for replying..

The industry is telecommunications distribution, selling to resellers.

There are 2 goods issue, firstly from our stock to the customer plant (?), The critical piece here is that we want to trigger the invoice to the customer on day 1 therefore we would need to process the order as if it were being 'shipped' with all relevant serial numbers captured through the picking processes. Secondly there would be a goods issue from the customer plant (?) which will be requested by loading another sales order for it and then follow the warehouse pick, pack and ship processes at a later date.

In answer to your question regarding further value addition...Yes we will add value in terms of bringing the order in to a configuration centre where we will physically build the components, create nesting handling units, install software and so on.

Many Thanks again

Hi,

In case of further value addition as you described, further consignment fill up/issue would not be able to meet the requirements.

You may evaluate Idoc/ALE approch to create a inbound delivery(w.r.t to the STO between the 2 plants that you mentioned) based on the Outbound delivery(which you will create from your Sales Order)

The Outbound Delivery PGI could be the trigger for Inbound delivery.

Interesting to know the scenario. I have come across absolutely the same scenario in Telecom Manufacturing/Distribution and we are trying to cobble it in pieces. Keep posted about your progress.

Thanks,
