Netweaver 2004s SR2 : SAPINST crashes on AIX 5.3 / UDB V8

Hi all,

I Try to install a new netweaver 2004s SAP system ABAP+Java. First I wanted to use the Prerequisite Checker in sapinst.

Sapinst starts fine but after having filled the database parameters and click on "Next" button sapinst crashes with message :

iauxsysex.c:317: child /DVD/INSTALL/sapinst_exe.115312.1174571528/sapinst (pid 127272) has crashed.

Executable directory is /DVD/INSTALL/sapinst_exe.115312.1174571528. Contact Support.

iaextract.c:814: child has signaled an exec error. Keeping directory /DVD/INSTALL/sapinst_exe.115312

.1174571528

There is NO error message before.

I'd checked environment variables.

I don't use directly the MASTER DVD but a copy of the DVD on disc. The copy was done by ftp transfer from my PC to the AIX server.

I've verified sizes of files but maybe a file is corrupted ?

What do you think ? Could you Help me please.

Best Regards

Gerard

Hi all,

Thanks for your answer.

The problem was due to a bad definition of environment parameters for ROOT user.

The recommandation was not applied for :

file(blocks) 2097151

data(kbytes) 131072

stack(kbytes) 32768

memory(kbytes) 32768

I just changed by :

file(blocks) 2097151

data(kbytes) unlimited

stack(kbytes) unlimited

memory(kbytes) unlimited

And it was OK.

So now I always checks value many times

Hello,

Dear,

Please check java version (pre requisite) it should be 1.4.2 (64 Bits), if not then download correct verion and update through smitty and uninstall sap (not db2) thru sapinst and increase the space of /tmp by command

#chfs -a size=+4G /tmp

also remove logs from /tmp i.e. sapinst* and also remove db2<sid> dir from /db2 and change permission of /db2 750 .

now go to master DVD (either on copied) and give command where sapinst is there

#./sapinst SAPINST_SKIP_ERRORSTEP=true

every thing should go fine.

thanks
