Steps to upgrade kernel patch in AIX cluster environment

Hello All,

We are going to perform kernel upgrade in AIX cluster environment.

Please let me know the other locations to copy the new kernel files ,

Hi

It's basically

/usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe   and /sapmnt/SID/exe.

If you have ERS then please take care for ERS as well

what do you mean by?

other locations to copy the new kernel files?

you must upgrade the kernel in /sapmnt/<SID>/exe

Thanks for the reply

Since it is a cluster environment do we need to copy other location apart from /sapmnt/<SID>/exe.

as we do in windows cluster.( we need to copy some files to cluster folder )

No, as I remember. Just the EXE directory.

Refer the SAP link

Executing the saproot.sh Script - Java Support Package Manager (OBSOLETE) - SAP Library

1. Extract the downloaded files to a new location using SAPCAR -xvf <file_name> as sidadm.

2. copy the extracted files to sapmnt/<SID>/exe

3. Start the DB & Application.
