Copy of project in solution manager is not working

Hello,

When we try to create a new upgrade project from an old implementation project in SOLAR_ADMIN_PROJECT , the job fails in solution manager 7.1

Below is the log for the project  copy job

The new folder UPG_14 gets created in SOLAR_ADMIN_PROJECT but when I try accessing it in solar01 it says"The background job SOLAR_COPY_PROJECT_UPG_14 for creating the project structure is Canceled"

Other than this no other error information is available in solution manager in sm21 st22 sm50

Kindly please help to solve the error.

Hello Sriram,

I have gone through these notes ,actually we are on ST 710 so these notes can't be implemented.

One thing I found is that the problem is related to Test Plan because if I don't select test plan tab while copying the project the job runs fine.

The issue got resolved after I opened the client and changed global setting to modifiable.

I see a note for the issue. please check and see if this note can be implemented

1284398 - All groups not copied with project copies

An SAP internal support message has been provided with the above note number and a workaround as below;

The workaround for that problem was to enter the project and simply
save it without the need of doing any changes.

For solving this inconsistency in the source project could you please
open the source project in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN in change mode and
simply press the 'Save' button without the need of doing any changes.

Afterwards please create a new copy of the project and test whether
the problem then still exists.

Hi Shradha,

I tried to copy an "Implementation" project to "Upgrade" project and encountered a short dump as below.

I think this is a product bug.

As an alternative to what you are trying to do, I would suggest to create a new "Upgrade" project and in the documentation in solar01 instead of using the "Source" as Business Process Repository, choose "Project" and you can bring the entire documentation of the "Implementation" project including the SAP objects in documentation. Now you can further subject the project changes in this Upgrade project.

I think this is actually the recommended approach because the documentation that you created in the "Implementation" project will be further modified to create the latest project documentation and can go into an active "Solution" at the end of the project. You may want to take a backup or "Copy" of the Implementation project also as an "Implementation" project itself to maintain the older project content in a backed up respority for compliance and other purposes.

Error analysis
     The table "\CLASS=CL_SMSY_EDITOR_PROJECT_C_ALV\METHOD=GET_SYSTEMS\DATA=L_EDITOR
     _TABLE_WA-CELLTABLE" was defined with a UNIQUE table KEY. In this type of
     table no entries with an identical (duplicate) key may be inserted.

     In this case a new row was to be inserted at position 1. At this
     position or in the row before there was already an entry with the same
     key.

I created upgrade project manually as suggested but in solar01 I didn't understand the step you want me to carry out

Should I follow this path in solar01 under Environment -> Project Analysis -> Assignments -> Documentation ?

IPM_12 is the source project

UPG_IPM_14 is the target project

If above path is correct do I choose below selections and enter IPM_12 in project ?

Hi Shradha,

Please find the steps as in the screenshots and instructions below.

First set your Implementation project you want to copy to "Finished".

now go into solar01 to the new Upgrade Project you created.

(if you land inside any other project, you click on "Other project" and pick your "Upgrade" project)

Now click on "Business Scenario" on the left pane and on the right pane "Structure"

Flip "Source" as "Project". F4 on the "Scenario Name" under "Structure" -> this will bring up the Projects.

F4 will bring up all the Projects that you have created in the system. Choose your "Implementation" project and the Business Scenarios. Please see the screenshot for special instructions I have added on the choice of your "Copy".

*****Likewise if you already have a "Solution" created out of the "Project" and is used for BPM or other scenarios, it is advisable to choose the Source as "Solution". In this case choose to "Copy as shortcut" so that the original processes and scenarios in the "Solution" itself gets updated******

If you play around with the above options you will further discover a lot of other options and features available.

P. S - Given that I had to give some detailed instructions I created and published a "Document" in SCN.
