Hi experts,

we are planning to change instance number of our ERP-System (e.g. D01 will be D02).

Can everybody who has an idea what has to be maintained give some input to this issue.

What I already know is:

- all RFC-Destinations in all systems

- HTTP Access and Ports

- Table V_T462A (Parallelism MRP)

- SMLG

- RZ12

- Message Server for Group-Logon Access

Thank you very much for every tip.

How are you going to change the system number of the system ?

Are you going to change the system number manually by modifying the files, directories and profiles or using the System Rename Tool?

We will do a new installation.

This means, we will migrate our DB and therefore we need to install all instances again.

But as we are now getting also the ASCS Instance, which will replace 00 to avoid message server problem at logon, all other numbers will change.

So profile will be build again.

kind regards

Hi,

Normally Distributed environments, When we are installing ASCS Instance before CI Installation it will ask for instance number for ASCS instance.Give 01 for ASCS and use 00 for CI Installation

Hello Christian

If you are doing a new installation and followed by the restore of the database backup then there is nothing else to be done apart from the ones mentioned above by you.

The installation will take care of the assignment of the system numbers to the profiles and directories.

If you install distributed system, instance number should be different for ASCS and Central instance. In time of Homogeneous / Heterogeneous system copy, you can choose the different instances(ASCS and CI) numbers. Better to use Software Provisioning manager.

Hi Christian ,

Hope you are doing good.

Just to let you know that this activity is not supported by SAP and hence no official notes are there for this.
Apart from the steps that you mentioned, also go through SAP Note

> 11692 - Renaming the system ID;

(is not about instance, but SID, but it will give you a good idea).

You can refer to the following link for the guides to perform the copy:

     -> http://service.sap.com/instguides

Hope this helps.

Thank you and have a nice day!
