Error while loading planning view

On starting up the excel add-in for our on-premise instance (with SP2 golden demo installation), we get the following error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The subsequent planning views don't yield this error, only the first one. Anything we're missing here?

You must load a correct calendar with all dates from initial date until final date of time profile.

Yes, tried that; but no success. The pop-up still appears.
