ECC - sproxy- ESR with PI and PO systems

Former Member

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to have 2 ESR's connections with 1 ECC.

We are using SAP PI 7.3 and SAP PO 7.4. In the ECC, on navigating to "sproxy", I am able to see ESR which is connected to SAP PI 7.3. Is it possible to connect to the SAP PO within that ESR as well?

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Dharmi

Hi Dhami,

Check also this document

Some configuration could be different if you work with a java PI version

Hello Dharmi,

As mentioned by Hareesh and Inaki, if the requirement is in part of runtime - yes, it is possible to connect one sender ABAP backend proxy runtime to several Integration Servers / Advanced Adapter Engines. This is explained in details in the SAP Note 1334174 ("Interface-specific IS_URL parameter").

On the other hand, if the requirement is in part of design time - namely, if it is necessary to connect a single ABAP backend system's SPROXY to several ESRs, unfortunately, this is not possible. SPROXY always uses connection to a single ESR or retrieves local data (in case local vew is selected). Connection to ESR is maintained in RFC destination SAP_PROXY_ESR (prferred option) or in Exchange Profile properties com.sap.aii.connect.repository.name and com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpport / com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpsport (if RFC desination is not found).

What can be used as a workaround in the sender ABAP backend system, is:

  1. In RFC destination SAP_PROXY_ESR, specify connectivity data for ESR of PI 7.3;
  2. Run tx. SPROXY, generate proxy objects for required service interfaces contained in ESR of PI 7.3;
  3. In RFC destination SAP_PROXY_ESR, specify connectivity data for ESR of PO 7.4;
  4. Run tx. SPROXY, generate proxy objects for required service interfaces contained in ESR of PO 7.4.

Details regarding configuration of RFC destination SAP_PROXY_ESR in ABAP backend systems can be found in SAP Help:

Technical Communication at Design Time - Security Guide Web Services (ABAP) - SAP Library, Connecting ABAP Backend System to ES Repository - Configuring Process Integration After Installation....

At proxy runtime, there is no necessity in connectivity to ESR (tx. SPROXY is used just during design time) - thus, ABAP backend system may stay connected to any of ESRs (of PI 7.3 or PO 7.4), meanwhile it is connected to both PI 7.3 and PO 7.4 at runtime (using sub-parameters of Integration Engine parameter IS_URL) and can send outbound proxy messages to both of them at runtime.

Regards,

Vadim
