In support of MBS, I will add my comments with some examples

Sales document type:

Normal sales order

Rush order

Cash Sales order

Item category:

Standard item category (Pricing is possible, picking is possible)

Free of charge item category (where you don’t charge the customer i.e no pricing)

Item category for return (where the customer is returning the product i.e. no picking required)

Item category for consignment

Schedule line category:

Standard Schedule line category (Requirements to be passed to MRP, Availability check required, relevant for delivery, Movement type required)

Schedule line category for returns (relevant for delivery but no MRP and no Availability check, Movement type required)

Hi ganesh,

Sales document Category is one which helps to categorise the document. It helps the system to understand that the document type is inquiry, quotation, order, contract, creditmemo request or like that.

Item category is the one which controls the behaviour of material(item) throughout the flow of document right from order to billing. It controls everything order, delivery, billing, schedule lines, pricing, how the material should behave, whether the item is relevant for delivery, whether the item is order based billing or delivery related billling and all.

In one sentence, wherever u go in sap, item category follows.

Schedule line category controls the movement type and how the item should perform, with availability check.

Hi

Sales document type will control on entire document....like number ranges, whether the division should pick from header or from material master record, whether it should search for customer material info record this u can see in v0v8

Item category will cotrol only item relevent data like.. whether this item is relevant for delivery, whether this item is relevant for pricing this u can see in v0v7..

Schedule line category controls movement of goods, whether this item is relevant for delivery, should the availabilty check need to be carried out ,,this u can see in v0v6

reward points
