Java Script error when loading RF menu Icons

Former Member

Dear Colleagues

We are using RF devices in our warehouse for the stock checks. Recently we have upgraded our ECC kernel Version to 721 patch 201. From then onwards, the Icons in RF menu (ie log off, SAP Logo, ITS Mobile log) not getting loaded and throwing the error as  - " Java script error, Error: Object expected, Source: "Null".

Services were working very well earlier, and also even now the page and icons getting loaded currently when we use the web page from local PC. issue is, from RF device, its not getting loaded the page properly.

We already did the following:

Reactivated the SICF services (mime, ITSMobile, ITS service etc)

published all the ITS services from SE80

cleared the template cache and ICM cache and taken system restarts

Added the parameter "Sources" explicitly to the SICF service parameter list.

Could you please help to get this issue resolved ..

Regards

Hello Renjith,

issue here is with the Kernel you are using I suspect.

Does note

1958584 WEBGUI: missing files in ITS.SAR archive of Kernel 721_EXT PL#201
on Windows x64/ia64

fit your Enviroment?

Hi Oisin

Thanks for the feedback. Could you please also help to get below queries sorted out.

first, Seems above note explains on the Kernel Bug on Windows SAP Servers. Our SAP Servers runs on AIX platform only. should we still has to go for the fix as the RF device's using Windows?

Second strange this is, after cross verifying with all sites, the issue seems affected only few sites and for other sites, its working fine. (for this we have tried to delete the browser cache for RF device and tried again - but the same java script error still)

Thanks and Best Regards

Hi Oisin

While in touch with SAP, its been asked to apply below SAP Note. So just going ahead with this Note implementation. I will feedback if the issue is resolved after..

1989363 - ITSmobile: removed BASE tag

Hi Renjith,

Note 1958584 WEBGUI: missing files in ITS.SAR archive of Kernel 721_EXT PL#201
on Windows x64/ia64

is not relevant for you if you are using AIX.

Note  989363 - ITSmobile: removed BASE tag

looks to be a better fit,

what is the SAP_BASIS that you are using?

what ITSMobile Generation Style did you use to generate the ITSMobile templates?

Hi Oisin

We Use, SAP_BASIS 731/06.

And the ITSMobile generation style is "MOBILE" (I believe, this generation style uses the outdated BASE tag, and this causing the issue). Would you agree?

Recommend to change the Base Tag from MOBILE to MOBILE4?

And then regenerate all the templates?

Thanks

Hello Renjith,

Yes I would agree that using MOBILE4 might offer a solution here? Have you been able to test and confirm that using this generation style resolves the issue for you?

Hi Oisin

After done below steps, the RF display works fine for most of the sites.

1.     Did the Generating stile change from MOBILE to MOBILE4

2.     Did the adjustments for SICF parameter (~Source parameter to include value, "ITSMOBILE" )

3.     Publish all services.

But after the changes,  several other sites reported the issue that, the screen alignment has gone and they are not able to see the complete screen and able to see it only partially (and no scroll bar as well)

Hello Renjith,

What Mobile device did you use for testing? Is it the same as the devices at other sites that also use this ITSMobile service? Could they be using different browsers with these Devices?

A view source of the screen in question(via a desktop browser) should give information on the width and heights of the screen template been sent to the handheld device's browser?

What are the current parameters of your ITSMobile service XXXX in SICF?

Hi Oisin

We are using different models in different sites. All the sites works fine now except few sites with below model Brand: Psion Teklogix Model: Omnii XT10.

Issue resolved for few sites with below combination of changes:

1. ~Sources parameter to include ITSMOBILE

2. ~Source parameter adjustment + dynpro parameter deletion

3. All the above + Style change from Mobile to Mobile4

Now only the latest issue is with screen alignment for above mentioned models. from front end PC, everything looks ok and the screen resolution is same as other sites. but in RF gun, its not displaying correctly only a partial view available, and first part of the page not visible - also no scroll bars to scroll up)

Just pasted the picture from RF gun below:

Thanks and Best regards

Hi Renjith,

Not 100% sure what you mean by the following:

"

2. ~Source parameter adjustment + dynpro parameter deletion

"

Are you using the

~dynpro_compression 1

parameter here?

If not - try using this parameter - does it create a better screen alignment when using the IE browser with the Psion Teklogix Model: Omnii XT10?

Oisin
