Hi,

We are implementing FM Migration from former budget to BCS. Can any one help on the following querys

1. We are migrating to BCS in mid of the year.Whether we can go for a fresh BCS Implementation or Migration?

If fresh BCS Implementation - Can company can use Former budgeting along with BCS

E.g. : Total company codes are 5. Then Co.code 1 is using BCS and Co.code 2 is still continue with Former Budget? Will it be possible?

2. What is the best approach of BCS implementation in mid of the year

3. Can we use the same Master data used in Former budgeting if we migrate or fresh BCS?

4. Can any body help on Migration Process steps involved ?

Thanks in Advance

Regards

Sam

Hello,

1) Once you switch BCS (on year basis), you cannot use Former. You can do the switch in the middle of the year

2) There is nothing specific about implementation in the middle of the year. You will have to migrate your budgetary documents of this year to BCS

3) Theoretically, yes.

4) In SPRO you have a folder of BCS migration activities + quite exhaustive description on help.sap.com

Eli

Hi Eli,

Thanks for your reply.

We are migrating from 101 (checking Payment Budget in former budgeting) profile to 350 (Commitment+Payment budget-BCS).  we will assign 350 profile to FM Area before executing Migration steps based on document wise. Is there any other steps we need to include apart from assigning from 350 to 101.

Hi,

Migration to BCS and changing update profile are two different things. With migration to BCS you don't touch at all actuals/commitment data, but only the budgetary documents.

Changing update profile is very sensitive thing, however. All documents will change their behaviour during the update. Theoretically, you can do it only if you have no documents, which didn't finish their accounting cycle.

Hi Eli,

Thanks for your reply.

1. Former budget has been implemented since 2007 and migration to be done in 2014. Client is following calender  year Jan to Dec. During the year we need to migrate from former to BCS.

Below are the steps following in Migration.

a) Migration of Total Records - This approach is using for Fiscal year upto 2013.

b) Migration of Documents based- Using from Fiscal Year 2014, since BCS activated year is 2014.

Can you please suggest the above approach is best for Migration from former to bcs.

2. Fund, Fund Center and Commitment Item budget structure used in former budgeting.

can you please suggest  the impact after migration for budget structue.

3. FC1+CI1 = 1000 (in Former budgeting 101 profile Payment Budget )

PR - 1000

PO 50

after migration by documents based, system will carryforward the budget document of 1000

but alrready 1000 and 50 has posted as commitments.

can we directly able to execute GR and IR after migration or do we need to execute any other steps to carryforward the Open commitments.

Regards

SAM.

Once more: migration to BCS will have no impact what-so-ever on your actuals/commitments or their registry in SAP tables. BCS migration concerns only budgetary tables and AVC tables. Also, migration to BCS does not assume a change in budget structure: you can perfectly preserve the existing one. Of course, the tables for its data will be different, but the structure could be left intact.

As for the best approach: there is no actually any choice. You have to migrate totals (at least of the current year; whether to migrate totals of previous years - that's up to you) and the documents of the year of BCS implementation.
