Converting Bex Workbooks to Analysis for Excel

Hi experts.

I need to convert lot of workbooks from Bex 3.5 to Analysis for Excel.

Some of them are huge ( more than 50 tabs with lot of formulas inside).

Do you know how can i convert them without recreating them from scratch?

I have tried to open an existing Bex Workbook but i cannot insert a new query, as all analysis tabs are disabled and the xls sheet looks static.

Looks like from the error message you are missing an SP on BW

I recommend researching OSS/SAP Notes on this at service.sap.com/notes

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have checked the notes and it seems i need to install a Support packages of Analysis Office 1.4. Is it a BO package or a BW one?

To me it looks like BW SP is needed.

It is always a good idea to be on the latest SP of Analysis Office, which is 1.4 SP6

Strange, as i have the Analysis Office SP6 installed, but i still get same error.

Am i missing something?

Please research this on your BW backend; the error message indicates that a support pack is missing in BW.  Please research this error at service.sap.com/notes - if no resolution, I recommend submitting an incident to SAP Support.

Hi Vivian,

Please take a look at note 1739153 - SAP BW Backend requirements for Analysis Office 1.3 or higher. It contains a list with the miminum required SPs & notes.

I think i will need to upgrade the SP on BW 7.

Now we have SP5, it seems SP 11 is required...
