Automated Transports

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a config steps for the following Scenario in the Transport Management System.

DEV100 >++> QA200 >-----> PROD300

DEV110 <+ +> QA220

DEV120 <+ +> QA221

|

+-->QA225

We want that any transports that are released out of client 100 (Customizing Golden Client) should automatically go to client 110 (Unit Test) and 120 (Development / Security) as soon as its released and the same transports should also be added to the buffer of QAS and PRD (but not imported into QAS and PRD)

We have developers releasing transports from client 120 and we do not want those transports going back into the client 110 and 120. Meaning we want only customizing transports from client 100 when released go into client 110 and 120 automatically and be added to the buffer queue for QAS and PRD.

Can some one help ASAP? Will reward points.

Hi Guang,

There are 2 options where you can setup the automated transport. However using the 1st option will transport the request to QA200 too. Therefore the 2nd one is the one that you want but there is alot of config to get it working. Also you will have to approve the requests which kinda defeats the propose. Anyway here are the 2 options anyway.

1. STMS (no approval required)

a. change NO_IMPORT_ALL to 0 or remove it

b. go to transaction STMS – Import Overview – QR3 and then click on the big lorry and enter the date, time and period. So whatever transports that exist QR3’s buffer will be imported

c. Please make sure that the QR3’s buffer is empty before enable it.

2. Transport Workflow (approval required.)

Transport Workflow is something different. To use the transport workflow, you must create a transport proposal in transaction se09/se10 after you released the requests. Then the system will send a notification to the approval’ inbox based on the workflow configuration. Once it is approved, it will import to QA automatically.

For more information, please see link below for the Process Flow

This way you will still need to go in and approve each transport.

Hope this helps,

Martin
