SRM versions

Hi guys,

Have been in SRM for a little time now--and have this basic doubt.

I know the numbering conflict between SRM and EBP(SRM 3.0,EBP 4.0;SRM 4.0,EBP5.0 etc) .

But i do not understand the SRM Server concept.I very well understand the part where different versions coming upSRM 4.0>SRM5.0-->SRM6.0.

A.) What is the significance of mentioning the SRM Server?

B.) And,i keep hearing that the numbering conflict between SRM and EBP will go away...from which SRM version?SRM 5.0?

Please clear my doubt.

Jack

Hallo,

replying to second pard of the question.

Numbering conflict went away from SRM 4.0 version, from that release on we dont talk about EBP version its just SRM 4.0 , 5.0, 6.0. Before releasing SRM 4.0 EBP created the major part of the solution but as you probably noticed in nowadays SAP SRM contains from many others already developed components :

Bidding Engine

Live Auction Cockpit

SUS - supplier self service

CCM or MDM catalag etc.

Hi Atul,

I understand that every version brings with it some changes.

SRM 3.0,SRM 4.0 and now SRM 5.0.

But,what i do not understand is the SRM Server philosophy?

When they say SRM 4.0 SRM Server 5.0 or SRM 5.0 SRM Server 5.5-- i simply dont get it....and that was my question. What exactly does the SRM Server signify?

Can you/anyone enlighten, please?Points will be suitably awarded.

Hi Jack

Prior to SRM40, CRM and SRM used to share the software and many objects.

From SRM40 onwards, CRM and SRM objects are separated. So, the name for software changed to SRM Server. I do not think there is big logic behind naming the software component as 'SRM Server' -- I think it just signifies SRM on Web Application Server.

From SRM60 onwards, the versions will be integrated (though not for all SRM components).

Best regards

Hi,

SRM is on same Web Application Server as CRM (many tables and transaction are the same for this systems). When in SRM system SAP put new features, they call it as SRM5.5. (SRM 5.0 is the same basis platform as CRM).

Hi

SRM server comprises of EBP (maintain logical component of SRM) and Bidding Engine. In addition to the above we have Live Auction Cockpit and its WPS, TRex, IPC, CCM, WAS (ITS), SRM content... - which all put together called SRM system
