Partial Return Sales Order

Hi,

I am facing an issue with returns and need your help.

We created a sales order for 1 Bag (each bag has 3  5Kg packets), Delivery and Billing are done. The inventory is maintained at Bag Level (not Packet level)

Now the dealer want to return 1 5Kg packets instead of bag. Since the inventory is maintained at Bag level, i converted the return order qty into Bags (0.333) and created the return order. We are facing an issue with inventory now because inventory is off by few decimals and also the credit memo.

Can you please help me out on how to solve this issue?

Hello,

  in my opinion you have to define a material code (if you don't have it yet) for the packet, then create the return Sales Order with reference to the original Sales Order, but without copying the item, then enter the newly created material.

Defining partial quantities for objects like a bag, which are a finite unit is not the correct approach. It will lead to many problems with stock.

Just to understand the process: what will you do with the returned package? Will it be sold alone? Or scrapped? Or used to form another bag?
