Dear All,
I am working on a support project and its been more than 1 year that all the transactions are running in SAP.
Currently the base unit of measure is MT (Metric Ton) even the the Selling Unit is also MT but now the clients requirment is the selling unit should be in Metres only for one particular product.
Stock is available for that material and all the transactions for that product are being done in MT till date.
Is it possible to change the Sales Unit to Meters at this moment and what will be the effect if i do so?
Regards,
You can change the sales Unit of Measure at any given time as per your Requirement--But you just need to maintain conversion parameters only.
If the Sales Unit of measure not maintained then sytem will take BUM as Sales Unit of measure.(You can control this based on the Indicator "sales Unit not variable in MMR Sales Org1 view)
Note: You cannot change BUM as this was maintained by Inventory Management.Still if you want, you need to exhaust the total stock and there should not be any open Sales orders/POs/Sch.Agriments lying)
It is quite common that in Pharma industry same product can be sold in Lots and pieces.
Example: take a cough syrup--as you are aware that in winter this problem is more common(Season in India is November,December and January) and company will utilize its season and will restrict its distributor in these times, to purchase only in Lots(1 lot=100+10 pieces)
During Non-season again the same material can be saleable in pieces again.
Hope you caught my point.

Hello,
if you try to do it in test or development environment without saving, system will retrieve this warning message, quite explanatory:
Message no. M3189
You wanted to change the base unit of measure. However, you can do so only
under certain circumstances, including the following:
Even if not mentioned, if your material has batch-management, it could be possible that you will have to archive existing batches.
Best regards,
Andrea
