Logon Limit reached / can not create shm web object

Hi

We recently updated our AS Java 7.3 (EP, ADS, SLD) to SPS11 including Patches & Kernel 7.21 PL222.

Every day or two users see the message

Logon limit reached. Try again later

when they try to login with username or SPNEGO.

In Logviewer we observe errors like

Can not create shm web object. Possible out of shm free slots. Check the shared memory configuration

After a restart we can see User Sessions rising up to 15000 in NWA, although only 40 employees use the Portal. We use this AS Java also as central SLD for roughly 20 SAP Systems.

We're on SLES 11.3 with MaxDB 7.9

Does anyone have an idea what to check for or what my be wrong?

BR

Michael

Thanks for your answers.

However we're on NW 7.3 where most of the settings are different or at least at different locations.

We already set the parameters

MaxUsersCount = 100000 (NWA)

SessionExpirationPeriod = 14400000 (NWA) (4 hours)

Global_app_config/maxSessions = 100000 (configtool)

Global_app_config/session_config/sessionTimeout = 240 (configtool) (4 hours)

but it did not improve the situation.

As I said before around 30 employees use the Portal functionality and around 20 SAP Systems "login" regularly to send SLD data. I really don't understand why we have more than 2100 Sessions within 2 hours reported in NWA-System overview.

Hi

I don't remember exactly; what we did (in the order of what I think helped most):

1. With latest AS Java patches (SP12 at that time had a lot of improvements in session management)

2. Restart DAA

3. Patch SAPHOSTEXEC

4. Correctly set Logout-URL (terminate session at backend)

what SP of NW74 do you use?
