Reason behind failed IDoc

Dear SAPGurus,

I have a doubt regarding IDOC. When any IDoc get failed, how can we come to know what is the problem or which data is missing? I know through status we know that IDoc got failed or successful. But my que is " If I am explaining to the user and if he asks about this, how we will exactly come to know that because of this reason this particular IDoc got failed? I gone through some of the threads but i did not get exact ans.

Please assist me in this.

Hello!

First, you can deploy the segment of the Idoc indicating you the statut. A subsegment is then displayed with an error message.

This message can bring you a general or more explicite information about error reason.

Also, you can use the Idoc number in a transaction as WPER (for WPUUMS Idoc for exemple). If the Idocs fails, it will bring you the article or other reason why it fails.

With some abap basics, you can debug the Idoc process and check at what exact step it fails. For more details, you can refer to the following link:
