SAP MMC as Windows Service

Former Member

Hi All,

I am trying to start SAP MCC instance after the reboot of my computer.

The DAA agent is working fine when I try to start or stop from windows service it is working fine.

But SID agent is not acting so. Even it is "automatic" it is not starting after system start.

In one of the thread I learned that this service cannot be started like that. We need to create some script and schedule it.

I have tried scheduling the "sapstart.exe" but its not happening.

Can you please give me a solution for this?

Hi All,

Thanks for the reply.

Got the solution,

Go to drive\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\profile\ and adda parameter "Autostart =1". This starts the Instance after reboot the system.

Thanks and Regards

I'm glad you found the correct solution.  I'm not sure why everyone was telling you to rename various files, and why they couldn't just say your 'J00' folder instead of 'DVEBMGSxx' (not that it had anything to do with the solution).

Please mark your thread as answered (you can mark your own answer as correct) to close it out.

Hi Prakash

In your system  (drive letter)\usr\sap\sid\devmsgxx\exe\ find the SAPStartsrv.exe.new & SAPStartsrv.exe

1. rename the file name from SAPStartsrv.exe to SAPStartsrv.exe.old and

2 rename the file name from SAPStartsrv.exe.new to SAPStartsrv.exe

Check the SAP service status

Hi Sriram,

By changing that, I am able to stop the service but I can't start.

A new file  "SAPStartsrv.exe.new" getting generated  everytime.

My aim is to start the service automatically when I reboot. Please let me know what is the step I have to do for that.

I am not able to find this path "(drive letter)\usr\sap\sid\devmsgxx\exe\".

I have only Four folders in SID

J00,SCS01,SYS and tmp. I have tried in both j00 and SCS01. Can you tell me the exact location.

HI

1. Is it Windows 2003 or 2008?

2. your instance is dual or single stack?

3. In which driver you are having "usr" folder?

Hi

In that case you can "E:\usr\sap\sid\devmsgxx\exe\".two place you have to change based on your SID=SID & devmsgxx - XX your instance number

Hi Sriram,

Sorry for asking.

As I said I dont have the folder like "devmsgxx" in SID.  I have only four folders mentioned above.

Can you explain me in detail. What exactly I have to do?

Is that I have to create a folder?

Hi Prakash

For that I am given the explanation in my early communication

In place of SID= you have to mention your SAP system SID &

In place of "devmsgxx" it should be a number that on your SAP instance number (like eg: 00 or 01)

In which folder you are rename the file? Otherwise the best option in Windows 2008 R2 you can use the file search "SAPStartsrv.exe*"

I hope this will be helpful

Hi sriram,

I am having the file in three places.

1. E:\usr\sap\QN1\J00\exe\

2. E:\usr\sap\QN1\SCS01\exe\

3. E:\usr\sap\QN1\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\

When I click the SAPStartsrv.exe ,

Its asking for "SID,NR,Profile, user,Password" is that in that place I have to give the SID or how?

Please explain me.

Really sorry I am not able to get what you mean by "devmsgxx".

Hi

You can rename the file in E:\usr\sap\QN1\SCS01\exe\

follow the steps

1. rename the file name from SAPStartsrv.exe to SAPStartsrv.exe.old and

2 rename the file name from SAPStartsrv.exe.new to SAPStartsrv.exe

Check the SAP service status

I dont know your telling "devmsgxx". Which is not present there.

Hi

If you are using SAP ABAP strack you can find the folder link that "devmsgxx" since you are using JAVA.

In your windows 2008 R2 services

======= > you find the SAP services,

=======> Select the properties just check path of SAPStartsrv.exe. either one of the folder which you are already mentioned  1. E:\usr\sap\QN1\J00\exe\ or 2. E:\usr\sap\QN1\SCS01\exe\

SAPQN1_01 -> E:\usr\sap\QN1\SCS01\exe\sapstartsrv.exe

Is that your sure that we can start. See the below

Hi Sriram,

I have done as below

1. rename the file name from SAPStartsrv.exe to SAPStartsrv.exe.old and

2 rename the file name from SAPStartsrv.exe.new to SAPStartsrv.exe

But no use... the service is only stopping when I stop from the windows service. But it is not starting when I do from windows service.
