Hi Ram,

Yes. You can perform DB backup/restore first.

It has to be followed by JAva export/import

For export/import of JAVA component no downtime is required. It will not take more than an hour to perform the export.

Hope this helps.

Further we do require the  portal configuration settings of PRD in SND box too .

I want to know if those portal configuration settings are feasible ???

Hi Ram,

All the configurations from PRD will get copied to SBX.

You may need to replace PRD hostname with SBX hostname ( Fully Qualified hostname).

Perform post copy steps on Portal like

1) Checking JCO connection

2) Check Backend System connections

3) Check UWL configurations.

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

The Business consultants need PCD objects and the folders present in PRD (production)

This needs to be synced in SBX system (sandbox)

Let me know if these settings can be recovered by transporting them at File system level  ?

Further we do not have CTS+ configuration

Further i have checked few things for PCD objects transports with below link::

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-24995

Let me know if PCD objects can be transported manually ??

Hi Ram,

PCD can be transported manually . You can export it into file and then import it.

For this CTS+ is not required.

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

How can the  JAVA schema export be taken for db2 database  if it is asking for dowtime .?

We tried and tested in SWPM(for NW version 7.0 ) and it is asking for the downtime  ??

Let me know how we can avoid downtime for this ??

Hi Ram,

How can the  JAVA schema export be taken for db2 database  if it is asking for dowtime .?

When you restore backup from source system, JAVA schema is also copied. It may prompt you to select the ckeckbox for stopping application but in actual it does not stop the application.

Refer relevant steps in link below

Basis Information: SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Dual Stack Refresh Procedure -4

Detailed refresh procedure can be found in

Basis Information: SAP DUAL STACK REFRESH

Hope this helps.
