mscs configuration for sap with oracle

Former Member

Hi guys ,

I need to install SAP with oracle on a two node windows MSCS cluster.

I have to install in such a way that oracle should run on one node(node1)

and sap instance on the other node(node2). When there is a node failure

either sap instance or the oracle will move to the other. For the above mentioned

configuration my questions are

1. Should I have to to install central system option in sapinst or High availability option

2.For the above configuration what is the sequence by which I have to install the executables.

3. What is the best MSCS option for the above configuration

Thanks

SureshDaniel

Hi Suresh,

Use SWPM to perform installation using High Availability setup.

Follow the sequence as per installation menu under HA.

Refer Installation guide for creation of server nodes as per your requirement.

Hope this helps.

Hi Deepak,

In the installation guide there are many information and I have read it.

But I need to have a setup in the following way.

node1                  node2

SAP CI              Oracle DB

         shared storage

         for CI and DB

=oracle should run on node1

=CI should run on node1

When there is a failure to a node either oracle or CI should move to the other node

regards,

Suresh Daniel.

Suresh,

DB will be in cluster. So you can move any node as per your wish.

However CI will be installed in one node only. You can install the Dialog instance in another node when ASCS failover to another node it will activate the dialog and high availability will be maintained.
