Email Alert for Errors in PI

Former Member
0 Kudos

I followed this step by step process:

I tested it in se38 - RSALERTTEST and after executing it works, but it wont work if it gets a red flag in SXI_MONITORING.

is there something wrong with my configuration?

the subscription page inside "alert inbox" has a BSP Error and returns this error "BSP exception: Cannot start application sap/alertsubscription. Use transaction SICF to create application node. gsknoten an."

I checked the SICF and can't find ALERTSUBSCRIPTION. Do I need a basis to add this?

Thank you.

Im using SAP PI 7.1 sp08

Hi Ronald -

but it wont work if it gets a red flag in SXI_MONITORING.

>>> I hope you have selected "No restriction" in your alert rule.

p.s seems like your alert category is visible now - appreciate if you can close it with the root cause.

Hi Ronald - If it's the system that is being discussed in the other thread, then after fixing that issue, you should be able to receive alerts..

Hi Hareesh, alerts only works during testing in RSALERTTEST. it doesn't work when i get a red flag either in integration engine or adapter engine.

Hi Ronald - Just to avoid confusion and make sure everything is clear -

-> you have define alert category (alertcatdef) in client XXX

-> Your exchange profile i pointing to client XXX

->You can see the alert category in RWB and created the alert rule for that category without any restriction

-> Do not select the checkbox "suppress multiple alerts" in alert rule

->check if there are any alerts in the table "SXMSALERTLOGGER" / execute the report "SXMSALERT_LOGREADER"

-> run the report "RSALERTPROC" to confirm any alerts

->go to SLG1 transaction and select the RFC-destination of alerts server  "CentralMonitoring -XI Alerts"(which you can find in sm59).

~yes

-> Your exchange profile i pointing to client XXX

~yes

~yes

-> Do not select the checkbox "suppress multiple alerts" in alert rule

~yes

->check if there are any alerts in the table "SXMSALERTLOGGER" / execute the report "SXMSALERT_LOGREADER"

~in SXMSALERTLOGGER, there's a message "*Error records received from AF on host XXX (sysid: DEV client:  ). Try to send Alert..."

~in SXMSALERT_LOGREADER there's a message "*!Function Module SALRT_CREATE_API raised:alert_no_recipients <RuleName:  > <AlertCategory: EMAIL_ALERTS_V >"

-> run the report "RSALERTPROC" to confirm any alerts

~i typed in my alert category, then after executing nothing happened.

->go to SLG1 transaction and select the RFC-destination of alerts server  "CentralMonitoring -XI Alerts"(which you can find in sm59).

~i can't find the CentralMonitoring in SLG1

however i typed in ALERT in the object field.

and here's a screenshot:

What is the communication method defined for the assigned user in SU01? Please set it to email in SU01.

maintain the e-mail address too...

Also i hope your SCOT configuration works fine.. i.e. job is created for INT and you could receive emails..

Hi Amit,

My alert emails are now working. However, when I get an error in the Adapter Engine (RWB), MULTIPLE OF EMAIL ALERTS are being sent. When an error occurs in Integration Engine, only 1 email alert is sent.

For the Adapter Engine Alert Rule, i have checked the '' and i didn't receive any emails, but when I unchecked it, i receive multiple emails.

im using PI7.1 SP08. is there an effect because my SP is not updated?

thank you.

Hi Chrizel,

When you check Suppress Multiple Alerts of This Rule you have to confirm the alert then only you will get next alerts. you might not have confirmed it. that is why it is not sending alerts.

so uncheck that option.

use report RSALERTPROC to delete old alerts created. then check if you get multiple alerts.

Muni

Hi Muniyappan,

I have unchecked the 'Suppress Multiple Alerts of This Rule' and im getting multiple mails again.

I tried to run RSALERTPROC and delete old alerts but there no alerts to be deleted:

Processing Alerts:

Search for Alerts to be Deleted (Old Alerts)

Number of Alerts Selected: 0

Please help.

Hi,

how you constructed your alert rules? did you put * for all the fields sender system, receiver system, interface etc,

try to check only particular interface related information and then check it.

also confirm all the alerts which are yet to be confirmed using above report.

i even faced this issue. not sure which settings will remove this.

Regards,

Muniyappan.

Hi Muniyappan,

Yes, all the fields are in '*'. I changed the Sender Component just to see if it will affect but multiple email alerts are being sent.

Any ideas?

thank you.

Hi TJ,

go to se38

run report BSP_UNLOCK_LONG_APP

unlock ALERTPERSONALIZE_RULES and ALERTSUBSCRIPTION.

then try alert inbox.

Muni.
