Hi All,
We have SUSE Linux 64bit OS.
Currenty we have changed the RAM size and CPU .
16 GB Ram to 32 GB RAM and 2 vCPU to 4vCPU.
Based on that we can change the any value no of Work process and Memery related values in ST02 and ORACLE 11G Memory parameter.
If any one could help us to increase the performance?
Thanks,
Priyanga G
Hi All,
In our project they are going to change the parameter value to their recommendation.
I don't know how they are calculate the value and the no of work process is increased to 20 to 60 in each instance.
Parameter_Name | Size in GB/MB | Recommendation
Total SGA Size | 4.26GB | 25GB
db_cache_size | 1.60GB | 18GB
shared_pool_size | 2.10GB | 6GB
log_buffer | 10.01MB | 1GB
Parametres | Value present in the system | Recommendation
abap/heap_area_dia | 2000000000 | Byte | 2GB |
abap/heap_area_nondia | 2000000000 | Byte | 2GB |
abap/heap_area_total | 2000000000 | Byte | 6GB |

HI Priyanga,
There is a tool called " Quick Sizer " if you give the necessary inputs like how many user's are there in the system and the necessary information about your hardware which it will prompt you to fill, Then the tool automatically suggests you how many dialog process you can configure per instance.
Are you facing any issue right now with the performance after upgrading the hardware. Please follow
@ Deepak Kori suggestions.
Hi all,
please note that Quick Sizer is only for initial greenfield sizings. As already mentioned earlier, for productive sizings you have to analyze your current system. For more information, please have a look at our sizing decision tree:

Sebastian
Priyanga,
It really depends on what your are trying to achieve.
Do you have known performance problems (e.g. high processing time caused by buffer displacements or low hit ratio - ST02)?
Were the hardware resources increased due to a known capacity issue? If so, how did the capacity problem manifest itself?
The parameters/resources can all be increased to further utilize capacity but this should be focused on areas that actually require additional resources.
Regards,
Tony

Hi Priyanga,
Yes you may increase the no of work processes with the new set of resources.
Also you may update values of SAP buffers and database buffers.
Question here is how much value you should increase ?
For this you need to follow some guidelines
1) Check what is the existing utilization of SAP server in terms of CPU , RAM and SAP buffers
2) You may additionally take recommendations from EWA report for the system .
3) Increase the parameters in small steps and have it tested
4) Check the SAP memory configurations with command sappfpar check=<path of instance profile>
This will help in adjusting the correct shared memory segments.
5) Adjust database parameters based on utilization and SAP recommendations
There are many more improvement areas but it will depend where the bottleneck is identified.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori

Hi Priyanka,
You can use the EWA Report if Response time is Increasing due to any expensive report,RFC's etc. This will indicate you the report's,rfc's which is causing problems in the server. So you have to take the corrective steps to improve the performance of the server. If you have the EWA Report with you kindly go through it and let me know in which step you are facing issues?
Thanks
Ajitabh
Hi Ajiabha,
No I'm understood the information which are displayed in EWA Report.
I don't know how to utilize for performance.
Recommendation is We increased the ram which are the parameter is need to increase the High utilization of cpu usages and ram in both DB and application.
we increased the RAM and CUP in all the VM'S
Thanks,
Priyanga G
Hello Priyanka,
Please go through the SAP Notes for this:
948066 - Performance Analysis: Transactions to use
SAP ABAP System Monitoring - Basis Corner - SCN Wiki
Let me know if you need any more help from my side.
Thanks
