Hi experts..need some sincere suggestion from your end..

I am in juncation of cross roads..

I have around 9 years of experience in IT with .NET background with SCM domain knwoledge around 6 years where in I have done APCIS CPIM certification as well. (during SCM domain experience I was suporting some .NET tools which were built for Manufacturing company)

So now, my company saying that they would like provide i2 Factory Planner training and on-board into i2 projects. I have been told that even after some time (say 3 yrs) if no i2 projects then its not so difficualt move into SAP or Oracle SCM platforms as already gained experience in i2.

So, my question is how about the career growth or job security in this case if I go with i2..btw, I am interested so much on SCM domain as I feel i2 would be somthing good to learn as got bored a bit with .NET as it became ocean now-a-days.

waiting for your suggestions.

Hello Ram,

Since you already have very good SCM background and also have technical skills with .Net programming.   I understand you have an opportunity to learn and work in  i2/JDA Factory Planner application. This will further help to enhance your existing SCM functional knowledge.

Many years ago I had worked in implementation of i2 applications and experienced gained during those projects has helped me significantly.

I suggest you can surely explore career opportunities within i2/JDA projects.Your SCM functional knowledge is going be key as far as job security is concerned. Besides, when taking a career decision, it is good idea to look for next 5 years period and then make a judgment.

This is my personal opinion, hope it will help.

Thank you

Thanks Satish for your time;

I have another question like how easy to move into other technologies like SAP/Oracle etc after spending a year or two as a i2 Factory Planner in case no i2 projects or in any other situation?

Thanks, Ram
