Anyone offer any help urgently as this system is now dead!

Hi Craig,

Can you retry with steps in sap help

Recreating a Database with BR*Tools (SAP Library - SAP Database Guide: Oracle (BC-DB-ORA-DBA))

Incase of errors please share details from alert_SID.log

Hope this helps.

Hi again Deepak, there is no alert_SID.log file!

Should there be some other file?

I noticed that when it tries to run the CREATE DATABASE statement it doesn't connect as sysdba!  Presumably this is the cause maybe?

Unfortunately the script that is run is automatically generated so I can't alter it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello

Alert log for your DB will be called alert_BWD.log... the path is defined in Oracle parameter background_dump_dest (show parameter background_dump_dest)

Watch out the DB version you are using is out of support... only version 10.2.0.5 is still supported.

you can find the alert log in /oracle/<SID>/saptrace/background/alert_<SID>/.log

/oracle/BWD/saptrace/background/alert_BWD.log

Apologies, I resolved this myself.  Was not obvious and no error logs indicated what the problem was.

Turns out that the initial configuration of tablespace data files was incorrect.  Even though it matched the correct size it tried creating them as 1 file and subsequently ran out of file system space.

After realising this I changed the values and adjusted the tablespaces post creation.

Thanks anyway.

Cheers

Craig
