Hi gurus,
I would like to how can outside vendors can access our SAP EP to access certain info from ECC thru ABAP Web Dynrpo application. We have around 200 vendors, do we need to purchase 200 SAP Licenses for them? I heard that sap license is not required for portal users, only one extra SAP license is required between ECC and EP. How far is that true? If this is true, how to hanle that in ABAP WD app?
Thanks very much.
No, it's not true. Any user accessing a SAP backend system through the portal needs to be licensed. Some SAP customers have chosen to overcome the requirement by using a service user between the portal and the SAP backend but since there are known restrictions with service users (for instance logon tickets won't work) and the solution being on the borderline of legal, your best choice is to negotiate with SAP to get the best price for the licenses. The more functionality your vendors will be accessing, the more the licenses will cost. What modules are involved?
