Hi Team,
Currently we are doing forecasting using FG items, now the management needs to change to SFG level?
Can we do forecasting in SAP APO in SFG level?
Please advise.
Regards,
Vijesh
APO DP does not "distinguish" FG and SFG explicitly. It is a Product Characteristic. DP BOM is one possible solutions if you want to derive forecast of SFG from FG. What needs to be clear is what you intend to do with SFG forecast. Do you want to release it for Supply Planning ? The distinction between FG, SFG etc for planning purposes can be made with MRP strategy or Proposed strategy
So answer is you can forecast anything in APO DP. You can extract exclusively consumption history of Semi-finished products from ECC and that may be the simplest approach
You might like to elaborate your end objective(s) is so many words that your management used
Thanks

Hi ,
Thanks a lot for the reply.. in our scenario, for one SF code, there will be another two or three sub codes, which are not part of any BOM. production and consumption also is happening for the same item but it is not included in BOM.
when the forecast is processing, will system consider the quantity soled for the below substitute items also? or do we need to set any thing in the system?
thanks for the advise?
Regards,
Vijesh.
Hello Vijesh,
Using Sales BOM you can achieve forecasting the Dependent Demand of Components in APO-DP.
You need to CIF transfer sales BOM to APO and then created/convert to DP PPM or PDS. It is Sales BOM it need not to have routings or work centers information.
You "BOM Relevant" MPOS for APO-DP having these standard characteristics - 9ABOMI,9ABOMIO, 9APPMNAME.
You need key figure for Independent Demand 401 (Header Item) and one for Dependent Demand 501 (for Components). You may need to design planning book with split window to show both Dependent Demand and Independent Demand.
Please do read below SAP Help, this will give some very good insight.

Hope this will help.

Hi Vijesh,
Could you please elaborate on Sub codes ?
Please explain the scenario in detail which products are getting sold and which one you are producing ? are you using manual planed orders to build inventory for sub codes ? Sub codes are for FG or SFG ?
Explaining the scenario in detail would help in giving the solution.
Regards,
Dharmesh.
Hi Vijesh
Forecasting at SFG level is possible where we use strategy planning at assembly level. This strategy supports forecast at SFG level and they get consumed by sales orders at the FG level. You can explore the other option of DP BOM if that can help you with that.
Thanks

Hi Vijesh,
You can use DP BOM to do forecasting at SFG level.
