SAP ECM ON NWBC

Hello All,

Need Information on NWBC.

Right now Iam using Engineering Change Management(ECM) from SAP GUI.

Can i access SAP ECM from Netweaver Business CLient.If so Please let me know how to make my ECM data appear on NWBC.(Can I create my Change request through NWBC).

Hi Praveen,

yes it is accessible.

You can access the Change Number (change master, CC01, CC02, CC03) and Engineering Record regarding ECM through NWBC.

Depending on your version you need the following standard roles for NWBC:

SAP PLM EhP6:

SAP_PLMWUI_DISCRETE_MENU2 for Discrete industries

or

SAP_PLMWUI_PROCESS_MENU2 for Process Industries (Recipe Development)

SAP PLM EhP5:

SAP_PLMWUI_DISCRETE_MENU for Discrete industries

or

SAP_PLMWUI_PROCESS_MENU for Process Industries (Recipe Development)

You can also launch the stadard transactions in NWBC as well.

Just need a small info in continuation to the above question.

You mean to say If i add the Role mentioned for SAP PLM EhP6 and login through my NWBC then i will be able to access Engineering Records in NWBC.Please correct me if i understood wrong.

Need your reply on this and points will be rewarded.

Hi Praveen,

yes, you are correct. With the assigned role you can execute create/change/display engineering records and change numbers as well.

Hello Praveen,

It depends on what you are looking for. Of course, you can access any transaction code in NWBC, it will just open an SAPGUI window inside the canvas.

The SAPGUI ECM (CC01, CC02, CC03) is part of SAP PDM.

In SAP PLM however, you can find both the Change Management applications (ECM in WebUI, basically the same concepts and data, still table AENR, with a Web Dynpro interface) and also the Engineering Change Record, which is a similar application (also in a Web Dynpro UI).

In essence, NWBC is a way to connect to the SAP system (similar with SAPGUI) but it works more like a browser (it is intended to run Web applications).

Maybe you can be more specific..
