I have one query related to calculated characteristics

My requirement is to calculate Tensile Strenghth , my formula is as below

TS = Tensile Strength = Maximum load / ∏D2/4

How to define in formula in Inspection plan for specific formula.

Please help

Thanks & Regards,

Abhishek Patel

C0 is a formula parameter, xxxx is the characteristc number in the plan.  From your screen shots your characteristic numbers are 0010, 0020, etc.. So all references to your characteristics should be in the format C0xxxx.

You don't actually tell us what the problem is.  Are you not getting any calculation? Is the formula rejected when you try to set it up?  Are you just getting the wrong result in the calculation?

I would try the following.

So if

Diameter is 0010,

Max. load is 0020,

Tensile Strength is 0030

The formula in 0030 should be:

C00020 / (3.14 * (C00010/2) * (C00010/2))

Craig

PS> Only 0030 should be marked as a calculated characteristic.

Hi Craig,

Earlier i was getting calculation but it was wrong now below error come up

I have tried with your formula but still not getting the result and below error given by the system

" Not all calculation input characs. in the formula have been valuated. "

Here i am attaching the screenshot of error msg.

Please suggest another solution and if any setting required in MIC ?

Thanks,

Abhishek

Dear Abhishek,

I think you have to first lock the MIC C010 and C020 means you have to close first two MIC and then try to closed or valuate lat one. May be it will resolve your problem

and try below formula for the same which i mentioned earlier,

Please try below logic with remove zero,

C0010/(3.14*(C0020*C0020)/4)

or

C010/(3.14*(C020*C20)/4)

Hi,

You need to understand the basic logic behind the error coming. It is clearly stated that Valuation has not been carried out. You need to enter the result & get the Status 5 before you can process it for any calculation. This is a mandate for all MICs involved in the formula.

Thanks to all of you..

Now it works..

I have done force closure through accept / Reject condition and then calculate the final char.

Now getting the perfect result.

Thanks,

Abhishek

I tried as below formula

C00010/(3.14*(C00020*C00020)/4)

But Answer coming not properly..

Abhishek,

πD2/4 does it mean D2 is nothing but Square of D?

Share screenshots of Inspection Characteristics maintained in Plan and formula maintained.

Yes Amol,

I tried with Multiple brackets also but not able to get correct result.

here i am sending you the screen shot which i maintained.

Please advise how to make the correct formula.

Dear Abhishek,

Please try below logic with remove zero,

C0010/(3.14*(C0020*C0030)/4)

or

C010/(3.14*(C020*C030)/4)

Dear Sandip,

I have already tried these but not getting actual result

Hi,

You need to create following MIC as-

1. Diameter- c010

2. Max. Load - c020

3. Tensile Strength - c030

Maintained above MICs in Inspection Plan. In 3rd MICs, maintained formula as-

C020/((PI*C010**2)/4)

Hi Rahul,

I have tried the formula as suggested by you , but not getting the result and below pop up given by the system.

and can you please explain me what is PI ?

Please advise another solution.

Thanks,

Abhishek

Hi,

Value of PI= 3.14=22/7, you can maintained PI or 3.14.

Referred to your Screen shot, when you enter the results in Max. load, Diameter, you have to click on valuate button ( balance like structure) so that system ask you for accepted/rejected. After that you you can calculate the Tensile Strength.
