SAP changed default-values in profil parameter, is a change log available?

we executed a system copy with SWPM-Tool,

but until now, we had 2 serious changings in SAP-Application behaviour,

because of (by SAP) changed default-values of profile parameter.

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3514348

is a change-log of changed default-values available ?   to avoid running again in such traps.

Hello Christoph,

Generally speaking, such changes occur not very often (fortunately ). There is no general process to document them, as they are also hard to detect (as the profiles get generated out of the code and are then adapted via templates on the installation masters). Nevertheless, we will try to document known changes in our roll-out material for software provisioning manager, available via http://service.sap.com/sltoolset and the .

Especially for gw/acl_mode, we also found the following information:

  • SAP Note 1891264 for gw/acl_mode (stating that the parameter was introduced with 7.20 Kernel)
  • SAP Note 1843782 documenting the change of default value for gw/acl_mode for new installations

But of course, separate SAP Notes do not help much beforehand.

Best regards,

Boris

Boris, thanks for your answer:

but i have found two very important changes because they have had impact on the system behaviour (after system copy). and maybe there are more changes  ........ ?

a global acting software company should document such drastic changes, to avoid customers running into such error situations.

to reference to thousend of sap-notes is not very helpful.

Hi Christoph.

One possible method to predict the parameters which may be added is as below:

  • Start the SWPM and proceed with a task such as an Additional Application Server installation until the sapinst_inst directory is populated.
  • Stop the SWPM.
  • Open the Control.xml file in the sapinst_instdir directory
  • Search for the string "dpf.add" to locate the code segments which would result in the addition of new parameters to the default profile.

This will at least reveal any parameters which may be added allowing you to review the parameters before hand.

Thanks

one more example of changed or new profile attribute is this:  rfc/callback_security_method

in SM59 you (suddenly) may detect this:   No RFC callback check

the problem is described in (just one more) sap-note 1971118 -  http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1971118

and perhaps

if you did not set well the corresponding configuration you may get trouble with TP+R3trans

=> see sap-note: 1992755 http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1992755
