How to tell GUI Patch level
I am wanting to be able to determine the patch level of 640 GUI's.
I have about 500 PC's that have the GUI installed on them. I also have software that we use to audit our workstations to see what software is installed on them. This software allows me to capture / look for files that I specify on the workstation end.
Are there any files in C:\Program Files\SAP that will tell me what GUI patch is installed?
Or does anyone else have a method for determining the patch level without having to look on the application server? I want to be able to see their patch level without them being logged into SAP.
One method would be to look at the SAPLOGON.EXE file. If you look at the properties, it's version 6405.5.19.1018. The version corresponds to 6.40 Comp 5, patch level 19, and something or other. I'm not sure if this is the best file, any of the SAPFEW* files might work better.
You may also want to download SAPVER from OSS Note # 526199 (it's an attachment). It reports additional information, like BW, and can be run from the command line for scripting and piped to a file that you then could collect.
