Hi Krishna,

It is already documented in the "developer guide" as below:

Optional step: Create counters to obtain the number of distinct values of an attributea)

Choose the Logical Join node.b)

In the Output panel, choose Calculated Columns.c)

In the context menu of the Calculated Columns, choose New Counter.d)

In the Counter window, enter a counter name and a description.e)

To hide the counter during data preview, select the Hidden checkbox.f)

To add attributes in the Counters panel, choose Add.g)

Choose OK.

Am able to see that option :

Hi Krishna,

Thanks a lot for your response.

But am not getting the option "New Counter" when i right click on calculated column. Do we need to do some settings or upgrade to new version??

Best Regards,

Krishna.

Which revision are you on?

Am currently using Rev 68 and yes. I have to "Right Click" and wait for a while without doing anything else and then the option comes .

Hi Krishna,

Am on revision60. I think this option is not available in this version. So is there any other way to implement counters in Analytic views using Calculated column?

Krishna.

I think in the previous versions, the option is confined to only Graphical Calculation views.

Krishna, I also have 68 and strangely I do not see this option.  When I right click on CALCULATED COLUMNS I only have option that says 'NEW...' or 'PASTE'

Patrick,

Krishna is saying that after waiting for some time, it is coming up. Have you observed this.

Hi Patrick,

Apologies for the confusion, am on revision 70. I mentioned the revision of my client system instead of my company's internal hana system on which I tried above.

Seems like revision 70 is enough.  Since replying through my mobile couldn't share the version screen shot. But you can see from Raj's screen shot as well.

Ahhh thanks for clarifying and solving the mystery!  I will add it to the list of reasons I want to upgrade to 70.  Although we may skip 70 and go straight to 72.  I heard there are lots of issues with 70.  Not sure if it's true or not.  Thanks again.

Hey Krishna,

Have a look on this discussion:

Do we have a ROWID or equivalent in HANA ? | SAP HANA

If your Analytic View has any calculated columns it will generate one dummy field like this "Row.count"

but visible through the graphical models, but i think it would be possible to use the column from analytic view as well.

There was a note, which explains why this column gets generated but am unable to get that note

I will update in this thread once i get hold of that.

Hi Krishna,

Thanks a lot for the above information.

Actually am looking for the ROWID concept with in Analytic view but not in Calculation view. Can we achieve ROWID in Analytic Views?

Best Regards,

Krishna.
