Hello Team,

we have production sap cluster environment ( Active-Passive) , ECC 6.0 EHP5 ,Linux+Oracle

Primary node hostname : a101pae0 (192.xx.xx.2)

failover node hostname : a102pae0 (192.xx.xx.3)

Cluster Virtual hostname : R3CIDBG (192.xx.xx.1)

Profiles are :

PRD_DVEBMGS00_R3CIDBG

START_DVEBMGS00_R3CIDBG

DEFAULT

some parameter values :

SAPDBHOST                               r3cidbg
rdisp/mshost                            r3cidbg
rdisp/sna_gateway                       r3cidbg
SAPLOCALHOST                           r3cidbg
SAPLOCALHOSTFULL                   r3cidbg..xxx.net

Due to hardware migration, team would like to change hostname and ip address of primary and secondary node to a103pae0,a104pae0 respectively

But virtual hostname of Cluster will remain same ie R3CIDBG

Will it effect SAP ?? or is there any change needs to be done in SAP or Oracle system profiles to accomodate this hostname changes ?

Hi Pankaj ,

For Cluster there won't be any impact but for SAP services installed using physical hostname will get impact. You may need to adjust the new hostname in to the profile files for those SAP instance.

Some customer install app server or CI instance using physical hostname on these cluster nodes.

Hope this helps.

In cluster installation your SAP profile names should be as your cluster group name, hence i don't think there will be any impact if you change the IP/host of your physical system.
