cover eligibility

Hello experts

We are interested in using cover eligibility in BCS if it can solve this problem.

For some funding there may be 3 types of funding.

Example is fund 1000.

There may also be available budget in fund 1000-01 and fund 1000-02.

The budget in 1000-1 and 1000-02 should also be available to fund 1000 when its budget is exhausted.

Our question is this - is it possible to use the budget from 1000-01 and THEN budget 1000-02?

Can automatic cover eligibility do this? Can the derivation determine a sequential order?

We are having trouble working out how to configure this or if it is possible.

We have a lot of the same budgeting scenario. It is currently a big manual task to transfer budgets from the -01 and -02 funds to the top fund, as each 'tranche' of funding is used up. -01 must be used before -02 etc and each must be able to be reported on.

Thanks for your input!

Aleksey

Hi,

Yes, this is possible with cover eligibility. I'm not sure about sequential order, as the concept of this funcitonality is to create one pool of the budget (or as they are called 'groups'), based on the rules that you define.

However, did you consider budgeting only 1000, while posting could be done on lower level, e.g. 1000-01? In this case, you can achieve it simply with budgetary structure (or, alternatively, with AVC control objects).

Thanks Eli,

The customer requirement unfortunately is to use the pool components (funds in the cover group) sequentially.

I don't think that SAP can solve this, but we will prototype the cover eligibility to be sure

Do you know, how SAP decides which funding to use from the pool?

So if fund 1000 budget is exhausted, and fund 1000-01 and fund 1000-02 are in the cover pool, which of the available 2 funds budget is used and on what basis?

Also how is the budget made available - does SAP execute a budget transfer before using the budget from the pool?

Thanks

Hi,

There is no budget transfer; just the program knows to check the budget from the pool. The sequence in this case plays no role, as all the budget is in one big 'pot'.

Hi

Would it be possible in the AVC derivation then, to check fund 1000 and if no budget, check fund 1000-01 and then fund 1000-02?

Or are we on the wrong track and this requirement is really impossible without ABAP?

Thanks for any feedback,

Aleksey

Only with ABAP, but you have BADIs on AVC level, so you can intervene without modifying standard code.
